I know that when Johnny Grant stepped down at the chair for the parade several years ago, it seamed like an era was coming to an end. The city of Los Angeles picked up the parade I think last year and has made an effort to keep the tradition alive. I remember when the parade was called the Santa Claus Lane Parade and it started down by the old KMPC/KTLA studios on Sunset. I also remember when Bill Welsh from KTTV 11 and Hobo Kelly (Sally Baker) from KCOP 13 would host the parade. I also remember when Santa's sleigh was on top of this giant float that had a ramp going up to where Santa's sleight and reindeer were, it was all white. I think KTLA 5 had shown the parade for several years too with Bob Eubanks.
